Spasticity

A condition in which certain muscles are continuously contracted.  This can cause stiffness or tightness in the muscles, and can interfere with normal movement, speech, gait, etc.  It is usually caused by damage to the protion of the brain or spinal cord that controls VOLUNTARY movement.  (AANS)
